Tirana, May 30, 2007, (AENews) – Prosecutors have opened a formal investigation against Eleonora Bregu, head of the religious sect of Saint Eleonora in Tirana. Saint Eleonora has been accused of making a false denunciation. She is the founder of a new religion inspired by Bektashi’s mysticism but self-declared the original Albanian religion. The investigation began after the alleged denounced an attempt to kill her by poison. “Two people forcibly entered in my room and made me drink the poison”, the “saint” said during media interviews. According to her followers, this is a religious war, “because other traditional religions do not tolerate a new religion directed by a woman”.
Since the beginning, Tirana newspapers and televisions have been very skeptical about the authenticity of the story. “Eleonora tricks again”, was the title of daily Shqip, when the story was first published. Even before that the police had reached a conclusion; meanwhile, newspapers have deliberately denounced the story as false. “Saint Eleonora has spoken as the rest of our politicians”, said a TV Klan journalist in a satirical show.

We are a group of active students, believers and members of The Holy Mission Eleonorë who study different subjects like philosophy, psychology, political sciences, medicine etc in Albania and abroad. We read your article entitled “A Saint Under Investigation”, date 30.05.2007. We were astonished, offended, and filled with indignation at the one – sided treatment of the problem, its selection, and arbitrary judgement ( not an informative one ) of the media which expressed its negative opinion against our Mission. We hope this selection of yours is accidental and not a based one, as the treatment of the problem in your article makes us believe.
The reasons why we react are:
1. The distortion of the truth. In part of the medias, your article is based on, it is declared that the prosecutors have started a penal prosecution against The Lady of Soul Eleonorë for making a “false denunciation”, because according to these medias, from the results of the medical examinations, there are no poisoning drugs in the body of the Lady. The other part of the medias you have chosen not to consider, acknowledge that Tirana District Prosecutors have started a penal prosecution for attempted murder of the Lady of Soul Eleonorë Bregu, They are investigating to elucidate the circumstances and find the assassins of this criminal case. Why have you chosen to refer only to the biased stand against our Mission ?
More over, you should have come to our institution to get the official information of Tirana District Attorneyship, so that the article you serve the public with, is neutral. We could provide you with the official confirmation of Tirana District Attorneyship according to which the event is under investigation, the forensic medical expertise is not over, and Tirana District Attorneyship has started the penal prosecution to find the authors of this criminal act with the charge: “attempted murder with malice forethought of the Lady of Soul Eleonorë Bregu”.They add that they have not given an official declaration for the media.
On 29.05.2007, The Lady of Soul came back from her stay inTurkey and declared, at Mother Theresa Airport, that based on the medical examinations she had had in the American Hospital in Istambul, it resulted that in the body of the Lady there were found traces of the drug BENZODIAZEPINE. This is a drug which makes a person feel deeply sleepy and causes grave damages like:
-Coma,
-Annihilation of the memory and the psychological processes, damage to the central nervous system ( in our case for The Lady of Soul not to have her Spiritual Contact to Heaven),
-Full paralysis of the physical body,
-Death ( as it has happened in most cases – the doctors claim ).
2. Distortion of the image of The Mission. We are astonished and filled with indignation because the information you deliver ( ungrounded by some medias ) aims at distorting the image of The Mission, dy minimising its stature and dimentions, in order to associate it with charlatan and “medics” like Gazmend Malaj etc,or things like the fact that The Mission is attended by women from rural areas, or ignarant people in general.
As it has already become known, the believers who frequent our Mission belong to different strata of the Albanian society including the peasants you refer to, as well as students, post – graduate, academics, artists, philosophers, even part of the best known intellectual elite of our country.
Our Mission has nothing in common with these charlatans of our society.Those who want to make such comparisons aim either at the annihilation of The Mission or else they do not have the right information about our Mission as long as they do not make the slighest effort to know the essence and its character. This process of acquaintance can not be realised by prejudicing this New Phenomenon from a distance. Neither can it be done being based on satirical programms ( like Paparazzi, on TV Klan or the Bypass on Vision + ), but by being introduced to the Spiritual Philosophy of our Mission which is updated in the books by the Lady of Soul: “Man in front of his being”, “Cosmos and Us”, and “Argument with the Philosophers” ( which is being published.).
That is why the prefaces of these two books are written by two of the most significant personalities of philosophy and political writing: Prof Doc Artan Fuga and the Writer Teodor Laço. If you want to know the appraisal of Prof Dc Artan Fuga on one of the dimentions of The Holy Mission Eleonorë, which is Spiritual Philosophy, you should just read a paragraph from the preface of the book “Man in front of his being” where he writes: In the book we find the appraisal of reading which is not fanaticism, religion which is not dogmatism, spiritualism which is not sdipzizm , creativity which is not teology. The fact that the book conveys itself in two special expressive forms is impresive: the first part has a mystic racionalist forming, whereas the second one is written artistically. But it is not the same image… The first part, metaphysics, seems as if it will pass from the Being to Man; the second part seems as if it tends to follow the opposite directin, i.e, from Man to Being.
Whereas in the preface of the other book by the Lady, “Cosmos and Us”, the well – known writter Teodor Laço writes: Having opened the door to the belief freely, accepting that no matter how different the streams of belief are, they get together and are reckoned to be belief. In another reason about the connecting bonds of Man to God through Prayer, we have a clear distinction between the two ways of establishing relations. Some address God to choose and to solve. The others pray To God only to get orientated and afterwards they work vigorously for the realisation… Getting into the essence of this message is easy to every category, even to the most uneducated one.
Besides the eveluation of the specialists, only one of the declarations and several public presentations of The Lady of Soul would do. There you will find what Tha Lady of Soul declares: Remedy is not a Mission’s aim in itself, but a consequence of the existence of Saintliness. As a result, our believers do not abandon the hospitals or ignore science as a whole. On the contrary, simultaneously, or after having made all the proper scientific efforts to cure their disease, they come to the Sacred Place where they pray to God directly and get the Heavenly Help which co-functions with the medical cure they get, because the aim of the existence of God and science is common and one: “The protection and the improvement of Life”.
3. Allusion to Mass Media. Whenever it is spoken about property problems between The Mission and the pretended owners, the mass media considers the later as real owners, as if it is the political writers who confirm somebody’s property or not. Why does it happen like this ?.
Meanwhile, it is not the political support which protects our Mission, but the Courts and the Justice organs which confirm that the documentation of the property the pretended owners use is false, and not correct as far as the technico – legal parameters are concerned and the pretended owners are not the legal owners of the thing they claim to be theirs, because they can not prove their legality. The acts of Expertise that we have received officially, and which are based on rulings, certify clearly signatures counterfeit, administrative seals counterfeit etc. We are in the process of legalizing the Site where the objects of The Mission are built for the mere fact that part of the Site is ours and part of it is state-owened property.
As a conclusion, in order not to be against the ethics principles, everyone should give his opinion in his field of expertise ( i.e, to judge a phenomenon, at least you should be well-informed, and at most you should contain it ). Every new Phenomenon during the history of mankind can not be judged being based on old principles, even if they are religious ones.
For these reasons you and the Mass Media are requested to reflect the events and the facts, as they are in reality, by obtaining the proper information, without prejudicing the people or the phenomena, and by being neutral with the news, the event and the issue.
We have always been ready to put at your disposal all the necessary information which would make it possible for everyone to create his own opinion of the event or the phenomenon, under no pressure.
