What did the Stars Say for 2006?

As the new year got under way, two of Britain’s leading newspapers claimed their astrologers correctly predicted a £15 million lottery jackpot would go to a Libran. Similar advice was given by “mystic meg” in the Daily Star.

The hard left Guardian newspaper ran an item that particularly mocked Express and Star astrologer Justin Toper for his off beam predictions on celebrities in 2005; but the Guardian in its policy of criticising horoscopes, was left behind by the other papers long ago, because newspapers do not run horoscope columns, they run “solarscope” columns, just based on sun signs, and serious astrologers will say these are for fun only,

Yet the astrologers always beat hands down the scientific community in predictive competitions, as the year ended the scientists with their futurists, trend forecasters, sales projectionists, market and strategic analysts only scored 30%, whereas the astrologers and “ newspaper horoscopists” achieved a higher 44% on average

The hard left Guardian glosses over that part, but in years gone by the horoscope column was often faked up by editors wife’s or Bit-of-stuff, just as today many an in house journalist will read a couple of books and do a write up as a pretended scholar, just parroting back what he has read.

In1985 a U.S psychologist Philip Tetlock, was angry about the rate of failure of all sections in predictive work, and set himself up as a broker and chose 284 people, mainly Academics, journalists, think tankers and economists, and asked them for their predictions, results now being checked for his book, “expert political judgement” shows these experts are no better than average people in forecasting trends, and some would perhaps be better employed with hooped ear rings and tea towel on head, as seaside card readers.!

Lets not forget however, that Britain in W.W.II had astrologers in battle planning, as did several U.S presidents, that Carl Jung based much of his psychological types on astrological signs, and religion, particularly Judaism and Christianity is ridden with it.

So for down market teacher’s papers like the hard left Guardian to rubbish astrology, by implication, also rubbish War cabinet policies, psychologists, and the religious infrastructure of the Jewish and  Christian church.

A little short sighted perhaps ?

About the Author

T Stokes

T Stokes describes himself as a “piano tuner” but not with pianos. But a tuner of people, when you lift the lid to most people, the deep notes show the material and physical arena, the middle notes the emotional landscape and the higher notes depict the spiritual side to man. At times we all need our inner keys looked at, maybe just dusted, cleaned and fine tuned, it is easy to recognise a neglected or damaged piano, but people are better at hiding their hurts, so a knowledge of many disciplines can be helpful. The best piano tuners are those with a disability, particularly blindness, and my disability was my childhood spent in a roman catholic orphanage, being psychic meant I had to be blind to the ignorant nuns and priests, and I had to be beaten and abused every day, But of course, like the children in the playground, they then had to have their readings. I have since childhood been able to read hands, and many years training as a paranormalist and counsellor, have given me the title of, “Britains psychic agony uncle”
